This runner/scarf is a perfect example of the beauty of the hand embroidery done in Santa Cruz de Sallac. Normally these beautiful patterns are done via a pick-up technique during the weaving process however for these patterns they are done afterward through embroidery which allows them to use a wide variety of colors throughout the band sections. This technique is one of my favorites. I love the variety of colors and tones they use to make these patterns pop. The tones of Alpaca used in this particular piece are so soft in color/tone and the grays, in particular, have a beautiful blue undertone which is a natural color rather than naturally dyed. This piece was made by Urbana Turpo Ccori and purchased through the Black Friday sale hosted by @centro_textiles_cusco and @abbysyarns. There are more beautiful textiles available from this sale on Abby's website. #centerfortraditionaltextilesofcusco #latinoamerica #cuscoperu #alpaca #cuscotextiles #spindlespun #spintoweave #backstrapweaving #weavingwithhandspun #igspinnersinspiration #spindlersofinstagram #spinnersofinstagram #handspinnersofig #spinnersoftheworld #spinnersofperu #weaversofinstagram #handwoven #igweavers
