Day 12-19 of the Woobly Wonderland 2023 Advent Calendar by The Woobles. I had to play catch up on my Woobles yet again. I ended up making four pieces yesterday and two today. Day 12 was the adorable little Star to place on the Christmas tree. Day 14 these adorable little mittens were a lot of fun! Day 15, I loved the embroidery work on this tiny drum. Day 16, I loved making the little nutcracker hat. Henri the frog looks quite snazzy with this hat! Day 17 was a cute little tiny wreath. This one was quite different to work on than the other projects since most use magic loops. Day 19, this little Elf was a bit tricky. I only had enough of the tan for two of the three face rows so I ended up undoing and using some tan I had left over from Toast the Shiba. Day 20 a cute little stocking! I’m feeling so much more confident with my crochet skills. Prior to the Advent, I had only crocheted two projects in my life Henri and Toast. I love how small each project is and how despite that there seems to always be something to learn from it. I’m feeling super comfy with the magic loop technique and I’m in awe over how many new kinds of stitches I’ve learned and feel comfortable working on without videos. Though I’ve been double checking on some things just to make sure. #learntocrochet #wooblesadventcalendar #woobles #crochetersofinstagram #amigurumi #crocheting

Day 7-11 of the Woobly Wonderland 2023 Advent Calendar by @thewoobles. I fell a bit behind on the photos but keeping up with all the little projects. Day 7 was an adorable little present. I loved getting to learn how to turn the magic loop into a box shape. I ended up adding a crochet chain for the ribbon instead of just the yarn. Day 8 was a tricky one! It’s a tiny Christmas ornament that has embroidered stitches. The embroidery made total sense but I was having a lot of trouble avoiding going through the yarn in the process. I ended up forgoing the tiny stars. Day 9 was another tricky one! The Gingerbread house was a lot of fun but I had a bit of difficulty with the seaming for the roof. I ended up making use of stitch markers to connect the roof to help get everything in alignment before seaming. Day 10 cracked me up sooo much!!! The tiny lump of coal was loads of fun but definitely needed to get a bit more light on the subject. Day 11 a cute little elf hat! I have to admit I kinda wanted to continue crocheting the red and turn it into a tiny cute little chili pepper. I loved the color change row. It was a bit tricky at first since it was so small but it’s a great technique to learn. Out of my two Woobles critters I’ve made so far I thought it was more fitting on Toast than on Henri hehe. Overall I’ve been having a blast with each of the projects. I love how much I’ve learned in each project and I’ve been enjoying the mix of small and big projects to make sure I don’t fall behind. Though I did fall a bit behind on photo editing but that’s ok! #thewoobles #thewooblesadvent2023 #learntocrochet #crochetersofinstagram #ilovecrochet

Day 3, 4, and 5 of the Woobly Wonderland 2023 Advent Calendar by @thewoobles. Day 3 started up Part A of this adorable little Christmas tree. This tree is my 5th crochet project so far and was quite the undertaking. The body of the tree and its branch layers added a lot of new stitches I was unfamiliar with. It took me a bit to remember each stitch without looking at the super helpful videos but by the time I finished, I was quite comfortable with the new stitches involved. It took me two days to finish Part A of the tree and then worked on Day 4’s Part B which was the trunk today. I’m so glad that Day 5 was little ornament hooks so I could take my time finishing up the tree. Crochet items are kits by @thewoobles and made by me. Roll Top bag by @hideandhammer. Crochet hook by @furlscrochet.

This Jenkins Merlin has been such a delight to spin with. It’s definitely been a puzzle for my brain to work out in terms of how best to wind onto it. I started with a over 3 under 1 wind on and after several layers have moved onto an over 3 under 2 wind on as shown in these photos. I am absolutely loving how the over 3 under 2 pattern forms. Fiber Sample is Earthen Hues by @greenwoodfiberworks Background was woven by @liasae. I know it’s wrinkly and I promise I’ll iron it but I loved the way the lighting played on the wrinkles. <3 #jenkinsturkishspindle #crossarmspindle #turkishspindle #spinningwithspindles #spindlespinning #spindlersofinstagram #igspinnersinspiration #greenwoodfiberworks

A special delivery arrived from my favorite LYS @stillyriveryarns. I’ve been eyeballing this @berrocoyarn Vintage Sock yarn as a possibility for adding high twist for Andean weaving. I’m also excited about some day exploring colorwork with these @pacificknitco doodle card decks. #pacificknitco #doodlecarddeck #colorwork #andeanweaving #backstrapweaving #stillyriveryarns #colorworkknitting

My first spin on my Martin is finished! I split both the braid of Slate & Chartreuse and the semi-solid braid of Chartreuse in half so that I’ll have two matching sets of chain plied yarns for knitting socks. The semi-solid will be used for the toes and heels. Looking forward to getting all this yarn wound up on the Roly-Poly after the yarn has enjoyed some spa time. Both colorways were dyed by @threewatersfarm The Blue/Green woven textile was made by Christina Ylla Ccallisea of Chahuaytire. Purchased through @abbysyarns / @centro_textiles_cusco.

The first half of Slate & Chartreuse and Semi-Solid Chartreuse is plied! Now onto the second bobbin. I am so looking forward to balling these up on my Roly-Poly to see how the matching skeins compare. I can’t wait to start knitting. 😁 I split both the braid of Slate & Chartreuse and the semi-solid braid Chartreuse in half so that I’ll have two matching sets of chain plied yarns for knitting socks. An extremely special delivery from Ed and Wanda Jenkins arrived today! I'm so excited to introduce to you all MERLIN! Ed has done a phenomenal job on this spindle. I've never seen anything quite like it, yet I can say from the moment I first spun on it, that it spins like a Jenkins. It took my brain a while to figure out how I wanted to wind onto it as the extra arm changed the math. After settling in with what I feel works best for me I can say it's just as enjoyable to wind as the normal cross-arm style spindles albeit a bit slower but that is partly due to building up muscle memory. I am a meditative winder so I enjoy every step of the process. I've been spinning with Ed's spindles for nearly 12 years. Every one I own I love and cherish. Ed's never ceases to amaze me with how beautiful each one is in every way. He helped me find my love for spindle spinning and through his spindles I've found the meditative winding process improved my spinning consistency. A PERFECT MATCH!!! I am so incredibly overjoyed that I now have a Long-Shaft AkerKate that I can use for my Magpie bobbins. @akerworks and @daedalusspinningwheels are two of my top favorite makers. They both make tools that fill me with so much joy. Their ingenuity has greatly imrpoved spinning experience. I love that I can use their tools together and that Daedalus now carries a variety of Akerworks Lazy Kates. This is a huge win for those buying new Daedalus wheels by being able to order a Lazy Kate with their wheel. I remember when I first got to know Dave. I noticed he was going to a festival that Adan was attending and I was like dude you really need to go over and say hi to Adan. I think you two could be best buds. All the meanwhile I’m chatting up Adan telling him how cool Dave is and that I think they could be two peas from the same pod. I think they were both a little nervous but they hit it off. The Fiber Arts community has benefited so much from these two makers and I am forever thankful to be able to call both of them dear friends. This particular Long-Shaft Akerkate is a special Scrappy version made of left over bits from other products. Adan tasked @danielclarkscott with making this one and he did a phenomenal job on it! Today I was invited to a local spin-in hosted by Michael of @spinpossible. It was a small but wonderful group of people that I’ve known for years. It was great to catch up with everyone and enjoy some relaxing spin time. Michael, thanks so much for being a fabulous host. I’m so excited for Michael to be teaching at the Daedalus Fly-In in 2024. Earlier this year I got to travel with two of my Daedalus wheels the Falcon and this little Sparrow I call Maple. Im so glad I was able to bring them along with me. I started this braid at the Daedalus Fly-In its Petal Pedalers by @threewatersfarm . I even got to spin this in front of Mary Anns booth which brought us both so much joy. Im planning on chain plying this up today. The other bobbin is part of my Unbeleafable spin which is a gorgeous gradient set colorway by @longdrawjames. I was planning on participating in Tour de Fleece but I got side tracked with a project idea that is taking a bit of time to start up. Stay tuned for pretties. #igspinnersinspiration #spinnersofinstagram #spinningyarn #twfpetalpedalers #threewatersfarm #daedalusspinningwheels #electricspinningwheel #espinnersofinstagram #daedalussparrow #spinningwool #spinningarainbow

Its been awhile! Ive been pretty inactive crafty wise as Im currently recovering from moderate/severe carpal tunnel. Ive been doing a lot better and starting to ease myself back into my crafts. I wanted to knit myself a pair of house socks without having to spin the yarn so I bought this yarn from @stillyriveryarns. Ive added a wee bit of extra twist to it and wound it up on the Roly-Poly. Speaking of Roly-Poly I ordered this adorable bag from @pyrotikigodz that features Roly-Poly Isopods! I thought what could be more perfect to hold a Roly-Poly ball of yarn than this bag. #stillyriveryarns #knittingsocks #handknitsocks #rolypolyballwinder #daedalusrolypoly #electricballwinder #knittersofinstagram #knitting

Received this gorgeous new mug from @fossilfibers. The blue is absolutely stunning and I’m in awe over the detail in the logo. We had been meaning to buy a new dinnerware set as our prior was getting pretty sparse. This was absolutely unintentional but our new dishes match the mug. 😂 Spin is Sunflower Fields on BFL dyed by @fossilfibers and spun on @Akerworks Mixy Spindles #fossilfibers #akerworks #mixyspindles #akerworksmodularspindle #spinningwithspindles #spindlespinnersofinstagram #spindlespun

Wow, so this is all my loot from the Daedalus Fly-In. I had a few things in mind that I definitely wanted to make sure I picked up one of which was Falcon food. I wanted to pick up some cotton from both @hipstrings and @apothefaery. I picked up some cotton on the first day and then may have gone for seconds towards the end of the final day. The very first thing that caught my eye while the vendors were setting up was the white fleece. It’s extremely crimps and on my first glance I thought it must be a merino or other fine wool. Of course @spottedcircus is well known for her incredible Alpaca fleeces. The white fleece is from an Alpaca Cria named Baby Vegas. It is extremely soft. Elizabeth also gave me a little sample of dark fleece to see how well I could photograph it. I am looking forward to purchasing more fleeces from Elizabeth in the future. I got a small assortment of pretties from the always wonderful @threewatersfarm. It was incredible getting to meet Mary Ann and Stephen in person. The next three photos after Mary Ann’s fiber is some gorgeousness from @apothefaery. I also got a Ice Dyed Geode pattern silk scarf which I used in the photo I posted not too long ago of all the spindles I got during the retreat. The next pile is all the goodies I got from @longdrawjames including some Yak down, Vicuña, Qiviut, Dorset, Woolen class sampler, and dyed Gotland. Next up is two gorgeous ceramics from @charansachar along with fiber samples from @spottedcircus and @apothefaery and a slate coaster that was gifted to me by @knitwitte8. Charan did an incredible job making custom mugs for the retreat using the shapes of wheels and bobbins. Last but surely not the least is some lovely goodies from @tuftwoolens. I adore all the wonderful things Martha makes with beautiful scents that aren’t overpowering which as a person with a sensitive sniffer makes me extremely happy. I picked up some scents and I’m especially loving the Coffee chapstick! #daedalusflyinretreat #hipstrings #apothefaery #spottedcircus #threewatersfarm #creativewithclay #tuftwoolens #spinningcotton #easytospincotton #spinningwool #spinningalpaca #igspinnersinspiration #spinnersofinstagram

One of the many highlights of my time spent at the Daedalus Fly-In was getting to spin this Rambouillet braid of Petal Pedalers in front of the @threewatersfarm booth. I’ve been having a lot of fun with working on my Henri the Frog from @thewoobles. I’ve been working on it fairly slow while I’ll build up the muscle memory for it. I’m also trying to be kind to my hands as they have been having some issues over the past couple months. I’m looking forward to when I can tackle bigger projects as my new @hideandhammer bag is going to be perfect. I also love how it makes for such a nice little backdrop for photos like this. #hideandhammer #hideandhammer03 #thewoobles #amigurumi #crochet #learningtocrochet #amigurumiforbeginners #crocheting #instacrochet

SQUEE!!! The project bag from @hideandhammer arrived today! This is a #03 Tartan Roll Top. I kept seeing these adorable crochet critters by @thewoobles and saw that Henri the Frog was a limited edition. You all know me, I love frogs so I couldn’t resist. I’ve never successfully crocheted before. I was taught how to chain when I was little but never got beyond that. The kit arrived last week but I didn’t want to start it until I got the new project bag. I figured it would be a nice first project for the bag. I’m loving this bag so much! It’s so roomy and the fabric is so lovely! The tutorials that Woobles has provided have been great so far and I’ve already completed 5 rows so far. #hideandhammer #hideandhammer03 #thewoobles #amigurumi #crochet #learningtocrochet #amigurumiforbeginners #crocheting

It’s been awhile! This past month or so has been quite busy and while I haven’t shared much publicly I’ve been very active on fiber stuff behind the scenes for @daedalusspinningwheels. This past year was a challenging one but as it went by things got better and better. I am so thankful for all my friends and family that have helped me through the year! I spent a lot of time on projects that simply just made me happy and I also spent some time working getting some long term projects done. I learned a lot through @abbysyarns in particular about Andean weaving and spinning which has profoundly inspired, challenged, and in some ways changed my way of thinking on certain things. I showed much love to all of the wonderful people I love to support in the fiber arts community. I am so deeply thankful for our community. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store for 2023. ❤️ #igspinnersinspiration #spinnersoftheworld #igspinners #abbysyarns #franquemontuniversity #spintoweave #andeanweaving #threewatersfarm #fossilfibers #akerworks #akerworksmixyspindle #daedalusspinningwheels #daedalusmagpie #pushka #jenkinsturkishspindle
