Day 4 and 5 of learning Andean Weaving through #franquemontuniversity. Before my 4th day of weaving, I unwove all prior days and left a small portion of Day 1 to see my visual progress from where I started. On Day 5 I wove a small amount of plain weave and then learned how to weave the first pattern that all Andean weavers learn Tanka Ch'oro. I'm having a blast with this whole process and everything is clicking really well for me. Spindles are from Paucartambo and the two with darker whorls are Chaj Chaj which have a captive ring on them that make a subtle sound as the spindle spins. The spindle bag was woven by Susana Inquillay Apaza from Sallac. The pattern sections are embroidered. The manta everything is laying on was woven by Christina Ylla Ccallisea from Chahuaytire. Both textiles are from @centro_textiles_cusco. #tankachoro #abbysyarns #andeanweaving #andeanbackstrap #backstrapweaving #weaversofinstagram #handweaving #weavingyarns #igweavers #handwoventextiles #weaversgonnaweave
