SQUEEE!!!! My first time weaving with my own handspun khaitu! So far I'm enjoying the process though oh my goodness it's sooooo tiny! I'm using popsicle sticks for my khallwa and 2/20 silk for my mini (weft). I learned how to spin khaitu from @abbysyarns's Franquemont University and from Nilda of @centro_textiles_cusco. All weaving learning was through Franquemont University. Background textiles: Natural colored textile was woven by Urbana Turpo Ccori of Sallac. Beaded band used for reference is from Huacatinco. Purchased through @centro_textiles_cusco and @abbysyarns evanitaewm's profile picture evanitaewm My adventures in handspun khaitu (Andean weaving yarn) continues! To wind my ayllwi (warp) I used four @akerworks ClampyKates set up on a Perjohan storage bench. I adore how versatile these ClampyKates are! This is a test warp that I'll be working on without beads to get a feel for the yarn before I add the complexity of the beads. This is the third warp I've made and the first handspun warp. The warp is 36 inches long. I'm using 2/20 silk for the weft. Background textiles: Natural colored textile was woven by Urbana Turpo Ccori of Sallac. The spindle bag was woven by Susana Inquillay Apaza from Sallac. Beaded band used for reference is from Huacatinco. Purchased through @centro_textiles_cusco and @abbysyarns. #spintoweave #weavingwithhandspun #spindlespun #spindleplying #abbysyarns #franquemontuniversity #andeanweaving #andeanbackstrap #weaversofinstagram #handweaving #weavingyarns #igweavers #handwoventextiles #weaversgonnaweave #spinnersofinstagram #handspunwool #handspinnersofig #yarnspinnersofinstagram
