I've been busy working on spinning WIPs but needed a wee bit of a break. I'm currently spinning up some delightful CVM destined for a special project. Andean spinning spindles are called Pushkas and the spindles shown here with the darker whorls are a specific type called Chaj Chaj which is the sound the captive ring makes while spinning. The bag these spindles are sitting on is a spindle bag that is able to hold the entire project. The spindle bag was woven by Susana Inquillay Apaza from Sallac. Purchased through @centro_textiles_cusco and @abbysyarns. #abbysyarns #franquemontuniversity #peruvianspindle #pushka #chacchac #chajchaj #khaitu #andeanweaving #andeanbackstrap #backstrapweaving #weaversofinstagram #handweaving #weavingyarns #igweavers #handwoventextiles #weaversgonnaweave
