Last Thursday I started learning something new! I'm taking an Andean Backstrap Weaving class through @abbysyarns #franquemontuniversity. This is my first time exploring this area of weaving and so far I'm having a great time. The first few photos identify all the parts of the setup in Quechua. The photos after that are my progress over the course of 3 days. Patterned section and prior weaving were all done by one of the junior weavers involved with the creation of the weaving kits. Background information: The natural textile was woven by Urbana Turpo Ccori of Sallac. The blue and green textile was woven by Christina Ylla Ccallisea of Chahuaytire. Both were purchased through @centro_textiles_cusco. #abbysyarns #andeanweaving #andeanbackstrap #backstrapweaving #weaving #weaversofig #handweaversofinstagram #handwoven #weaversgonnaweave
