My Andean weaving progress on my 13th-18th day of weaving. This was my very first attempt at making my own ayllwi(warp). This was made with 3/2 cotton that I added extra ply twist to. It was the first yarn I had handy to work with and while it wasn't ideal to work with it did work. I would definitely prefer to use a wool and/or alpaca warp rather than a cotton one for this kind of weaving and the yarn was thicker than I would prefer to work with. Overall though it was a great learning experience. The pattern is Tanka Ch'oro. Background textiles: The first one is a spindle bag woven by Lourdes Churi Gutierrez of Accha Alta and the textile in the other photos was woven by Urbana Turpo Ccori of Sallac.
