This is the set I’ve been waiting for since the moment @longdrawjames showed me in passing a Kingwood long he was thinking about purchasing. It was so incredibly gorgeous and I knew if he got even just part of it I’d love to have a set of both his spindles and a bowl. The UFO has a Curly Maple shaft which looks very similar to the sap of the Kingwood. The bowl and Supported Dealgan feature both the Heartwood and Sapwood. The Dealgan is about half and half so depending on how you look at the spindle you see all Heartwood, all Sapwood, or a split of both. I love how there’s so much variation in the wood in terms of the grain and color. The Sapwood is such a beautiful contrast. I’m extremely impressed by how beautifully the Supported Dealgan spins as the density between Heartwood and Sapwood can throw things off balance easily. James will have more spindles and bowls made out of this gorgeous wood. He’ll have some available this year before winter sets in and more available once he gets back to the lathe once things warm up next year. #handspunstagram #spinstagram #igspinners #spinnersofinstagram #handspun #handspunyarn #fiberfeature #wemakeyarn #fiberyfun365 #spin15aday #supportedspindle #supporteddealgan #dealgan #longdrawjamesspindles
