My Top 9 for 2021(minus all the Ravelry posts because... well I'm done with that bullshit). Lots of love for all the things I accomplished this year and all the wonderful fiber friends I have who have kept me going this year. This past month has been especially difficult. We learned that our cedar shake roof needs replaced... and probably should have been replaced last year... but the folks who came out to fix it last year majorly failed at really observing the rest of the underside to confirm that pretty much the whole roof is failing. We are still waiting on one of the places to give us their estimate and to sort out who can get our roof redone soon rather than later as I don't think I can cope going through a rainy season knowing the poor condition of our roof. After our roof dilemma, we lost our last remaining furbaby Teemo. His passing has been especially difficult on me as for the past year he's refused to interact with me and pretty much thought I was the evil lady with the nasty medication. Our relationship never returned to normal and he lived the last year of his life alone. I have major failure feels. This morning upon prepping to make breakfast a small furry critter of a nonpet variety zoomed across the floor. Shortly after I found that our silverware drawer and our stovetop has shit all over. We've placed 3 humane traps and so far no captures. All of this on top of all the pandemic bullshit. I am exhausted... I have no spoons and no mojo to do anything. #igspinnersinspiration #wemakeyarn #spinnersoftheworld #igspinners #handspunyarn #handspinning #yarnspinners #spinningcotton #daedalusspinningwheels #daedalussparrow #daedalusmagpie #akerworks #akerworkssuperskeiner #creativewithclay #threewatersfarm #spottedewefibers #ashenflock #longdrawjames

One of two gorgeous ponchos I picked out through the Black Friday sale hosted by @centro_textiles_cusco and @abbysyarns! This one is the Ticlla discontinuous warp technique. This was made by Genoveva Choqque de Chuquichampi. The yarn looks a lot different than the other textiles. It's a bit fuzzier I think is how I'd put it. It's made from 100% Alpaca. There are more beautiful textiles available from this sale on @abbysyarns's website. #peruvianweave #peruvianponcho #centerfortraditionaltextilesofcusco #latinoamerica #cuscoperu #alpaca #cuscotextiles #spindlespun #ticlla #spintoweave #backstrapweaving #weavingwithhandspun #igspinnersinspiration #spindlersofinstagram #spinnersofinstagram #handspinnersofig #spinnersoftheworld #spinnersofperu #weaversofinstagram #handwoven #igweavers

This runner/scarf is a perfect example of the beauty of the hand embroidery done in Santa Cruz de Sallac. Normally these beautiful patterns are done via a pick-up technique during the weaving process however for these patterns they are done afterward through embroidery which allows them to use a wide variety of colors throughout the band sections. This technique is one of my favorites. I love the variety of colors and tones they use to make these patterns pop. The tones of Alpaca used in this particular piece are so soft in color/tone and the grays, in particular, have a beautiful blue undertone which is a natural color rather than naturally dyed. This piece was made by Urbana Turpo Ccori and purchased through the Black Friday sale hosted by @centro_textiles_cusco and @abbysyarns. This gorgeous bag was one of the items I purchased through the @centro_textiles_cusco Black Friday sale. I'm absolutely loving it and it's a perfect spindle bag. It's much larger than I anticipated which makes me super happy. I'll have to see what all of my spindles will fit. I did verify that 2 of the Talenti ice cream containers fit in this which is a great way to tote small Turkish spindles. This bag was made by Nayda Quillahuamán Cueva of Mahuaypampa. All of the items I'll be sharing were spindle spun out of either Alpaca or a combination of wool and Alpaca. Spinning is the 6th day of the @inglenookfibers 2019 advent on a #jenkinsturkishspindle. #centerfortraditionaltextilesofcusco #latinoamerica #cuscoperu #alpaca #cuscotextiles #spindlespun #spintoweave #backstrapweaving #weavingwithhandspun #igspinnersinspiration #spinningyarn #spinnersofinstagram #handspinnersofig #spinnersoftheworld #spinnersofperu #weaversofinstagram #handweaving #weavingyarns #igweavers

Earlier this year I was doing pretty good about getting some of my outstanding WIP done and well... some new projects were added along the way OOPS. I've weighed everything out and now I'm trying to come up with a game plan of what I think I can finish before the new year. I'm wanting to bring out the 2019 advents of @hipstrings and @inglenookfibers, ply up the 2018 @threewatersfarm TdF Spin, spin up the remainder of Green Gallery also by Three Waters Farm, and finish up the bump of dyed cotton I'm working on between the Sparrow and Falcon. I still have two more braids to spin on Magpie before the bobbin is full so I can ply up the will be 9 braids on the one bobbin. #worksinprogress #spinningyarn #handspun #handspinnersofinstagram #igspinners #handspunyarn #handspinning #yarnspinners #threewatersfarm #hipstrings #inglenookfibers #greenwoodfiberworks #woolgatherings #carrycherryspindle #jenkinsturkishspindle #spottedewefibers #longdrawjames #akerworks #fellviewfibres #daedalusspinningwheels #majacraftaura #weepeggy

Danger Falcon is ready for its first spin! I wanted to go with something that glowed but I've got a very limited supply of fiber that contains fluorescent dye all of which was dyed by @longdrawjames. I ended up going with this gorgeous Cormo which has a small bit of fluorescent green in it. I'm currently spinning this at 40% which is about 1,650 RPM. Fiber is 8 oz of Cormo wool dyed by @longdrawjames of @ashenflock in the colorway "the Wrong Frog". This colorway contains a small amount of fluorescent green which glows under black and blue light. #UVReactive #UVreactivespinning #spinningwithcormo #cormowool #ashenflock #longdrawjames #spinnersofinstagram #handspunwool #handspinnersofig #yarnspinnersofinstagram #igspinnersinspiration #wemakeyarn #spinnersoftheworld #electricspinningwheel #espinner #daedalusspinningwheels #daedalusfalcon

Meet Danger Falcon! This is my custom Falcon(Falcons only come in Black body with custom trim color). I help out @daedalusspinningwheels with testing out wheels as both a spinner and a maker. I provide Dave with feedback out of the typical range of spinners. I've built at least one of each wheel and the Falcon was one I was a bit nervous about with how fast it can go up to 4,200 RPM. Overall I'm extremely pleased with how it turned out however my flyer isn't up to Dave's standard on sound quality so I'll need to replace the flyer before this birdie is ready to fly. Hoping to spin live with this birdie soon! #igspinnersinspiration #wemakeyarn #spinnersoftheworld #spinnersofinstagram #handspunwool #handspinnersofig #yarnspinnersofinstagram #electricspinningwheel #daedalusspinningwheels #daedalusfalcon

Friday is a big day for @centro_textiles_cusco and @abbysyarns! It's the Black Friday sale! There is about a metric ton worth of incredible textiles from the weavers surrounding the Cusco area of Peru. These beautiful textiles you see here were all SPINDLE SPUN and handwoven on a backstrap loom. The large natural color blanket front right piece features hand-embroidered patterning for the large pattern stripes. The smaller textile to the left of the blanket also features a decorative embroidered seam that goes over the more invisible seam to join the two panels. These textiles are incredible in every way! I keep going to the studio to get them out and admire them. I cannot wait to see all the gorgeousness that will be shown in the Black Friday virtual trunk show. If you would like some beautiful Peruvian textiles of your own be sure to check out Abby and the CTTV's IG account for more information on the Black Friday virtual trunk show. To take part you'll need to purchase a $5 ticket on Abby's website and you'll receive a zoom link as well as a buyer number. More information on how things will work can be found on both IG pages as well as Abby's discord server. Sign up asap to ensure you are ready to go for tomorrow morning! #blackfridaysale #cuscoperu #cuscotextiles #peruviantextiles #spindlespun #spintoweave #backstrapweaving #weavingwithhandspun #igspinnersinspiration #spinningyarn #spinnersofinstagram #handspinnersofig #spinnersoftheworld #weaversofinstagram #handweaving #weavingyarns #igweavers

I definitely don't have a color theme going on here! Nope, no sir. This Blue/Green/White color combination is one that is quite popular in Chahuaytire. I'll definitely be looking for more pieces from this group of weavers as these colors speak to me so much. I'm amazed at how @charansachar's mugs are so close in color. I really need to get back to this spin. I've put it on hold a bit as I know @abbysyarns has been super busy. Looking forward to getting back to our slow race. On the bobbin is Green Gallery by @threewatersfarm. After this, I still have two more braids to add to this bobbin. For anyone who's interested in this beautiful woven textile I'd highly recommend checking out both Abby and @centro_textiles_cusco as they have planned a whole week's worth of events starting on Sunday! It will include a special Black Friday Virtual Trunk Show on Zoom. This gorgeous square was woven by Christina Ylla Ccallisea from Chahuaytire. #centerfortraditionaltextilesofcusco #latinoamerica #cuscoperu #chahuaytire #alpaca #cuscotextiles #backstrapweaving #igspinnersinspiration #spinningyarn #spinnersofinstagram #handspinnersofig #spinnersoftheworld #charansachar #threewatersfarm #daedalusmagpie #daedalusspinningwheels #electricspinningwheel

This stunning bag was made by Ccaciana Huamán Huamán from Patapamba. I purchased this through @centro_textiles_cusco during a trunk show hosted by @abbysyarns. The closeups are of the prior two bags I posted by Maruja Huaman Callañaupa(naturally dyed) and Justina Auccacusi Quispe(natural colors) both of Chinchero. It was an absolutely incredible event and I'm looking forward to the next trunk show which will be held on Black Friday. For anyone who's interested in purchasing these sorts of textiles, I'd highly recommend checking out both the Centro and Abby's pages to get more information about next week's events leading up to the Black Friday trunk show. #centerfortraditionaltextilesofcusco #latinoamerica #cuscoperu #alpaca #cuscotextiles #spindlespun #spintoweave #backstrapweaving #weavingwithhandspun #igspinnersinspiration #spinningyarn #spinnersofinstagram #handspinnersofig #spinnersoftheworld #weaversofinstagram #handweaving #weavingyarns #igweavers

My package of gorgeous textiles arrived from @centro_textiles_cusco. I specially ordered these during one of the Trunk Shows that the Centro de Textiles Tradicionales del Cusco and @abbysyarns hosted on Zoom. It's so incredible to see these woven textiles up close and to know that each one was spindle spun, naturally dyed if dyed, and handwoven with a backstrap loom. Each piece is so intricate and the consistency of both the spinning and weaving is incredible. It boggles my mind just how much time was spent on each piece every step along the way. I'm extremely happy to be able to support the weavers, spinners, and dyers of the surrounding areas of Cusco. The Textiles industry has been suffering greatly during the pandemic as it relies heavily on tourism and well 2 years of no tourism is hitting hard. The lack of tourism affects not only everyone involved in textiles but even those who aren't involved as its effect ripples throughout the communities at large. These trunk shows have helped get these beautiful textiles sold to help make room for all the new work and to continue to support all the families whose lives depend on selling their beautiful work. These two bags were made by Maruja Huaman Callañaupa(naturally dyed) and Justina Auccacusi Quispe(natural colors) both of Chinchero. #centerfortraditionaltextilesofcusco #latinoamerica #cuscoperu #alpaca #cuscotextiles #spindlespun #spintoweave #backstrapweaving #weavingwithhandspun #igspinnersinspiration #spinningyarn #spinnersofinstagram #handspinnersofig #spinnersoftheworld #weaversofinstagram #handweaving #weavingyarns #igweavers

Heels have been turned on my UV Reactive Rainbow socks! Now onto the home stretch to get these socks done! I went to go shoot a photo with the UV light but I uh dropped it in my excitement to take new photos and broke it. Great sadness!!! Luckily my room lights are smart LEDs that can change colors so setting them to blue gives off the glow only with a slight blue cast to the background rather than black. This is Charollais/Bamboo/Silk dyed by @longdrawjames spun and chain plied on my Black/Teal Sparrow. Knitting with 00 Karbonz and using @j.e.l.b.y Flock Locks. #uvreactive #blacklight #fluorescentyarn #fluorescentyarninblacklight #igspinnersinspiration #wemakeyarn #spinnersoftheworld #knittersofinstagram #igknitters #knittersofig #knitting #knitting_inspiration #instaknit #i_loveknitting #knittingsocks #sockknittersofinstagram #sockknitting #sockknitter #handknitsocks #handspunsocks #daedalusspinningwheel #daedalussparrow #ashenflock #longdrawjames

I've been spinning this 4 oz of Easy to Spin Acala cotton dyed by @longdrawjames on both my Neon Green Sparrow Gir and my Falcon to get a better feel for the differences between these two wheels for spinning cotton. They are both wonderful for spinning cotton but I definitely prefer the Falcon as it has such a lighter feel to it as I spin allowing me to spin at speeds faster than what I feel comfortable spinning on the Sparrow. #spinningcotton #cottonspinning #acalacotton #easytospincotton #cottonspiner #igspinnersinspiration #wemakeyarn #spinnersoftheworld #igspinners #handspunyarn #handspinning #yarnspinners #daedalusspinningwheels #daedalusfalcon #daedalussparrow

So today’s big thing was UV Reactive stuff! @swtsthrnbelle mentioned it’d be cool to have UV reactive fiber and @longdrawjames was tempting me into a UV reactive print project. During tonight’s @daedalusspinningwheels Saturday zoom we shared lots of glowing UV reactive stuffs. I found out my Neon Green wheels glow when I switch the color to my smart lights to blue. I eventually found my black light for curing resin and will play with that for photos in the future. In my article "My Rabbit Hole: A 15-year journey to consistent spinning" in the latest issue of @plymagazine I shared the experiences I felt helped me improve my spinning consistency. One of the things I struggled with a lot was woolen spinning and spinning cotton. I've grown a lot over the past couple years and I finally feel comfortable spinning cotton and find it a lot of fun to work with. This was definitely not always the case. These four skeins of cotton show my progress. From left to right: Tahkli spun 2013, Majacraft Aura spun 2015, Magpie spun 2020, and Sparrow/Falcon spun and Falcon plied 2021. Last two photos are of the Sparrow/Falcon skeins with the last one being a closer view. I'm extremely proud of my progress and grateful to have wonderful friends like @longdrawjames who provided a lot of advice and encouragement. If you are thinking about learning to spin cotton, don't be afraid, go for it! The more you try and practice the more you'll improve. #plymagazine #writingforplymagazine #myjourneytoconsistentspinning #spinningcotton #handspuncotton #cottonspinning #tahklispindle #tahklispinning #majacraftaura #majacraft #daedalusspinningwheels #daedalusmagpie #daedalusfalcon #spinnersofinstagram #handspinnersofig #yarnspinnersofinstagram

I finished my very first big cotton spin! It still needs washed but this is hands down the most cotton I’ve ever spun before. This is 5.35 oz of Sea Island cotton spun as a 2,140 yard 2 ply approximately 50 WPI. This project was split across my Sparrow with 2.5 oz spun last year and the rest spun on Falcon. I’m extremely pleased with how this yarn turned out. It still has some problem areas but overall this is leaps and bounds better than any other attempt at spinning cotton. I’m planning on eating a small amount of this on my Baby Macomber to test out what sett I’ll need to get the right look and feel I want for this woven up as a twill. This cotton will be the warp and the weft will be 2/20 silk. Once I get my sett sorted I’ll likely need to spin a wee bit more and then get it warped up for a 22 inch wide 3 yard long stole. The warp will be hand painted by my friend @longdrawjames. He’s eager to dye up some cotton warps and I’m excited to see how it turns out. Now to spin more cotton! 😁 #handspuncotton #spinningtoweave #spinningcotton #weavingwithhandspun #seaislandcotton #ashenflock #longdrawjames #igspinners #handspunyarn #handspinning #yarnspinners #daedalusspinningwheels #daedalusfalcon

On Friday during my Twitch livestream, I finished filling up this Falcon bobbin with 2 plied cotton of around 50 WPI. I would describe this bobbin as quite squishy and even with the squish factor, I was able to fit approximately 1.75 oz onto the bobbin. This may be a smaller skein than what I'm used to working with but with this sort of yardage, it'll be great to work with. This cotton is destined to become a painted warp to be paired with a 2/20 Black silk for weft. During the Saturday Zoom Spin in I was able to nearly fill up the second Falcon bobbin and have approximately .35 oz left on one bobbin that I'll need to sort out how I want to ply. I may create a center pull ball and then create a plying ball from that to ensure the smoothest/safest plying experience to make sure I can ply every last bit up. #handspuncotton #spinningcotton #cottonspinning #spinningtoweave #handspunweaving #handspunhandwoven #igspinnersinspiration #spinnersofinstagram #handspinnersofig #yarnspinnersofinstagram #daedalusspinningwheels #daedalusfacon #electricspinningwheel #espinner

On Monday I got an amazing delivery from @akerworks. The public testing prototype of the Travel Swift! I am loving all the updates from the prior version I was testing. The packaging looks fantastic and the new ClampyKates are AWESOME!!!!!! I could totally see using these for chain plying. Super portable and versatile! I've set up the Travel Swift on my new weaving bench which will give me at max 2 yards to work with which I think is ideal. More testing information from me soon and to read more about how testing is going there's a thread over on that one website I don't like to use anymore(r a v e l r y). I'll also be posting some information on the Akerworks Discord as well. 😁 #yarnswift #yarnswiftandballwinder #akerworks #akerworkstravelswift #akerworksprototypetesting #igspinners #handspunyarn #handspinning #yarnspinners #knittersofinstagram #igknitters #knittersofig

OH MY SQUEE!!!! Ok first off Instagram is now allowing me to post photos via my desktop!!!! How awesomesauce is that! Ok, awesome new feature aside how adorable is this little bobbin? This is the Falcon bobbin. @daedalusspinningwheels estimates that it can fit approximately 2 oz of singles. The estimate is a general guideline as your capacity can vary depending on how you spin(WPI and draft) as well as your tension. I was able to fit approximately 2.5 oz of Sea Island cotton 80 WPI singles. I'm currently plying this spin on the Falcon so I'm eager to see how much I can fit of this plied onto a single bobbin. #spinnersofinstagram #handspunwool #handspinnersofig #yarnspinnersofinstagram #spinningcotton #cottonspinning #seaislandcotton #spinningtoweave #weavingwithhandspun #daedalusspinningwheels #daedalusfalcon #electricspinningwheel

I think my Falcon has enough floof food to last it quite awhile! This is all my cotton from various sources including @ashenflock(@longdrawjames), @hipstrings, and @vreseis. On the Sparrow I was spinning at 90% which with the Magpie power brick is about 1,880 RPM (Magpie power supply tacks on 50+ RPM to Sparrow). That speed is equivalent to 45% on Falcon which is where I started. I was shocked at how comfortable it was at that speed and felt so at ease that I’ve upped it so far to 47% which is approximately 1,944 RPM. I feel like I’ll be able to go faster so we’ll see where this birdie takes me. It definitely wants to soar! #easytospincotton #foxfibrecotton #longdrawjames #ashenflock #hipstrings #spinningcotton #cottonspinning #handspinningcotton #igspinnersinspiration #wemakeyarn #spinnersoftheworld #spinnersofinstagram #handspinnersofig #yarnspinnersofinstagram #daedalusspinningwheels #daedalusfalcon #electricspinningwheel #espinner

Last Wednesday an incredible package arrived from @longdrawjames. I wanted to try out some of his new fibers he’s added to the shop and WOW, they do not disappoint! Left to Right: 2 braids of Cormo, 2 braids of South American with black Viscose Nepps, Cormo, Double Sorted BFL(the nicest BFL I’ve ever seen!), Cheviot(for making tiny sweaters for my sheep plushie), and three braids of A1 quality Bombyx Silk. Everything is so incredibly beautiful. I definitely would like to get more of the Double Sorted BFL as it is hands down the finest quality I’ve ever felt. So far I’ve managed a single layer. 💚 For anyone who’s been curious about what the fabric piece is in my Magpie this is it’s purpose. It holds fiber when I’m not spinning which makes wheel transportation with fiber so much easier. #twfgreengallery #polwarth #polwarthsilk #spinningyarn #handspun #handspinnersofinstagram #Spin15aday #daedalusmagpie #daedalusspinningwheels

I will be photo editing live today at 7 pm PDT. Tonight’s photos will all be related to the Outlander Weave-A-Long hosted by @hookandshuttle. The photos I’m especially excited to show you all are macro photos of the woven structure. It’s unreal! The sort of detail you’ll see is above and beyond what I’m able to share normally on social media so don’t miss out! The stream will be on my Twitch account(link in profile). Those who have an account on Twitch will be able to use the live text chat to chat with me while I’m editing and ask questions. #photoediting #livestream #twitchstreamer #macrophotography #weaving #weaversofig #handweaversofinstagram #babymacomber #floorloomweaver #jstonlineguild #handwoven #handwoventextiles #handwoventwill #4shaftloom #hookandshuttle #hookandshuttlewal #hookandshuttleweavealong #outlander #outlanderweavealong

My @jeribrock Sea Turtle spindle is done and I’m ready for the next spindle. The next one I’ll be spinning on is the Rattlesnake. This particular photo was edited live during my last livestream on Twitch. If you’d like to see the close up details in this photo the recording can be found on my Twitch and YouTube accounts. If you’d like to catch any future livestreams please follow me on Twitch. Fiber is #BFL dyed by @huckleberryknits in the colorway Summer’s Day. I will greatly miss seeing more of her beautiful dyeing in the future. #huckleberryknits #jeribrockwoodworks #turkishspindle #bluefacedleicester #spindlespinning #spindlersofinstagram #spinnersofinstagram #handspunwool #handspinnersofig #yarnspinnersofinstagram

@abbysyarns invited me to check out her Office Hours Zoom and I pulled these two braids out to spin. Currently Abby is working on filling the Art bobbin and I thought it’d be fun to see which one of us will fill their Magpie bobbin first. I’m currently at about 57% capacity and anticipate spinning these two braids from @threewatersfarm along with one braid yet to be determined. #daedalusspinningwheels #daedalusmagpie #threewatersfarm #twfpetalpedalers #twfgreengallery #igspinners #handspunyarn #handspinning #yarnspinners

Over the past several weeks I’ve been working on rebuilding my personal website over to @wix. I’ve used WiX through helping @daedalusspinningwheels and i was also highly recommended it by my old coworker buddy @artbit. I’ve officially migrated the site over and I’m extremely pleased with it. It’s still very much a work in progress concerning the galleries but it will be much easier to manage from now on. I’m hoping to post blogs regularly to share updates on what I’m working on so if you’d like to follow along you can sign up to the site which will update you in when I make posts as well as allow you to make comments. #websiteupdate #portfoliowebsite #photographywebsite #naturephotography #flowerphotography #fiberartphotography #spinningyarn #handspun #handspinnersofinstagram

This adorable Gecko themed Turkish Spindle arrived from @jeribrock on Tuesday. Awhile back I suggested to Jeri that a gecko would be a great addition to her spindle subjects. She did such a great job with the shape and the tiny toes are so cute! The wood is Plantation Teak.🦎 #gecko #turkishspindle #crossarmspindle #jeribrockwoodworks #plantationteak #scrollsawart #dropspindle #dropspindlespinning #dropspindlersofinstagram #igspinnersinspiration #wemakeyarn #spinnersoftheworld

It feels like FOREVER since I’ve gotten to that snazzy new prototypes from @akerworks! I sure have missed the excitement of a new tool being developed by Adan. This is a Squirrel Cage Swift that has been in development for quite sometime. I first saw initial prototypes back in 2017 when it was just a initial idea to see if it’d work. The Squirrels have come a long way since then but there’s still much to do. Adan has a small team of testers providing the first feedback outside of the testing that has taken place in shop. We’ve had a lot of great discussions and feedback. It’s exciting to see how this tool will develop. #squirrelcageswift #yarnswift #akerworks #prototypetesting #spinnersoftheworld #handspinner #igspinners #igspinnersinspiration #spinningyarn #spinnersofinstagram #handspinnersofig

Earlier I saw a post that made my heart race at the mention of using Clorox wipes on spindles. I thought I’d share some tips on cleaning your wooden spindles. The first thing to keep in mind is that most quality spindle makers use oil finishes. If you look up Clorox wipes and wood it mentions that you shouldn’t use them on untreated/porous wood as it can cause discoloration. While these wipes are ok on wooden surfaces like ones coated in polyurethane they are not ok for spindles that have been treated with oil finishes or wax. So what should you use to clean your spindles? I like to get to know my spindle makers and what they recommend for taking care of their spindles. Some makers will include information with their spindles or have a page about it on their website. Once I ended up with dye on the shaft of one of my Jenkins. I was so disheartened by this and reached out to Wanda Jenkins to see if she had any recommendations. She mentioned that lathering on wood wax like Woodbeams and letting it sit for 5-10 minutes before wiping it off with a soft cloth can help remove the dye from the wood. Another time I wanted to spin in the grease on one of my Jenkins but I was worried about how to clean the spindle so again I reached out. She recommended a 50/50 mixture of lemon juice and olive oil to cut the grease. Apply and leave for 5-10 min before wiping it off with a soft cloth. Both instances worked like a charm! I also like to give my spindles what I can a Spa Day, same goes for my wheels. About twice a year, once at the beginning of the year and around June I like to get all my spindles and wooden wheels out, dust them, and give them a good coating of Woodbeams. Let sit for 10 minutes and then buff it with a soft cloth. This helps keep the wood in peak condition. Photos are of one of my Spindle Spa Days. #spindlespaday #spindlecare #woodenspindles #dropspindle #supportspindle #turkishspindle #jenkinsturkishspindle #woodbeams #fibertools #spindlespinning #spindlersofinstagram

The joys of hand-wound yarn! When I wind on a #nostepinne usually the side facing me is all neat and tidy but the back side is not so much. It’s still beautiful though when you can see the layer underneath. Make sure to swipe to see the 100% resolution crop. This is Charollais/Bamboo/Silk dyed by @longdrawjames spun and chain plied on my Black/Teal Sparrow. I love how yarn looks all balled up like this. I don’t actually own a ball winder so each ball of yarn is wound by hand on my Nostepinne. So uh… some of you know that I’ve been trying really hard to work down my spinning Works in Progress as I’m currently at 19 WIPs. I got a text message from @akerworks asking if I’d mind shooting some photos for my absolutely favorite top whorl style drop spindles which should be releasing soonish. I dropped everything and made a mad dash through my sample stash to find the perfect little spin to show these pretties off. I couldn’t find a small sample to spin, but what I did see out of the corner of my eye was these incredibly stunning braids of Sunflower Fields on BFL dyed by @fossilfibers. At the time all I had was the Yellow and Grass Green spindles and the idea hit me, get an Emerald Green and Berry Blue to form a gradient to match the colorway. New spindles arrived today and the spin has started! It fills me with so much joy to spin a project on these spindles. So these new spindles, what makes them special? These are Small Modular Lotus whorls that were made to fit the Mini Spindle shafts instead of the modular shafts. The smaller diameter shaft gives this combination a super fast and long duration spin that goes on and on forever with the best spins going even long after my arm is no longer able to reach high enough. 😂 they make my heart sing. 🥰 #akerworksminispindle #minispindle #modularspindle #akerworksmodularspindle #fossilfibers #ilovegradients #spinnersofinstagram #handspunwool #handspinnersofig #yarnspinnersofinstagram

The #outlanderweavealong resumes! I ran out of Walnut, only have myself fo blame as I added on 40 extra ends on either side and well warp takes up a lot of yardage! @hookandshuttle hooked me up though and sent me a wee bit extra of each color so it’s smooth sailing now! I’m still getting the hang of winding quills and need a better storage solution as I had a wee bit of an accident with one of the Sage Brush quills. I’m currently at 62 inches not including the tie up for this 3.5 yard warp. 😁 This Weave-a-long is hosted by at @hookandshuttle. There will be more Weave-a-longs in the future and they are ordering more yarn to make kits permanently available. If you have any questions about the kit just reach out to @hookandshuttle. ❤️ #weaversofinstagram #handweaving #weavingyarns #igweavers #babymacomber #floorloomweaver #jstonlineguild #handwoven #handwoventextiles #handwoventwill #4shaftweaving #hookandshuttle #hookandshuttlewal #hookandshuttleweavealong #outlander

I’m so overjoyed that #tinystudioissue12 is out and the print issues are starting to arrive in various places across the globe. I got my print copies early and I’m so happy with how it turned it that it nearly brought me to tears. So uh… I have a lot of spinning works in progress. 😂 I currently have 19 in progress. So how do I keep track of all these projects? I have a short article in Issue 12 of tinyStudio Creative magazine about how I organize my WIPs to make sure each project is spun to my original intentions. #fiberygoodness #tinystudiocreativelifemagazine #learninglab #worksinprogress #spinnersofinstagram #handspunwool #handspinnersofig #yarnspinnersofinstagram

“Sing me a song of a lass that is gone. Say, could that lass be I?” I am absolutely loving this project! I’m not sure what it is about it that makes it feel so peaceful. With each new weaving project I take on it continues to reassure me that I love to weave. This Weave-a-long is hosted by at @hookandshuttle.
