I'm having a wonderful time learning how to use Peruvian Pushkas(spindles). The two on the left are Chaj Chaj which have a captive ring on them that makes a rattling sound. They can be spun both suspended and supported depending on whatever is comfortable at the given time. I'm currently spinning up some merino that is destined for khaitu(Andean weaving yarn). I spin on them a little bit here and there. The bag these spindles are sitting on is a spindle bag that is able to hold all four of these spindles. Both the bag and textile were spindle spun and woven on backstrap. Background textile was woven by Urbana Turpo Ccori of Sallac and the spindle bag was woven by Susana Inquillay Apaza from Sallac. Purchased through @centro_textiles_cusco and @abbysyarns. #abbysyarns #franquemontuniversity #andeanweaving #khaitu #spinningtoweave #chajchaj #pushka #andeanbackstrap #backstrapweaving #weaversofinstagram #handweaving #weavingyarns #igweavers #handwoventextiles #weaversgonnaweave
